Contemplative Meditation
No matter what experience you may have with meditation, our Sunday afernoon sessions are appropriate for any level of pratice and are always free.
Neurotheology
Contemplative meditation provides a pathway to prayer that may be new to you. According to the American monk and mystic Thomas Keating, contemplative or centering prayer is a process of interior transformation. It can simply be described as “resting in God.”
Here at the Presence, under the leadership of Walter Pousson Jr., we offer classes in this process, and more. There is no dogma. There are no dictates. We are intentionally not a church, but it is our hope to enhance whatever belief system you follow.
“The spiritual journey begins within one’s own consciousness,” explains Walter, “and allows you to see, hear, feel, and touch within the higher realms.” And as Carl Jung beautifully stated, “It is pointless to praise the light and preach it if nobody can see it. It is much more needful to teach people the art of seeing.”
“Walter is a master of theology. My spiritual life improves at every meeting and I’m experiencing much more joy and peace.”
A New Way of
Interpreting Scripture
“Remarkable research in recent years has identified connections between neurorology and spirituality, and the more I studied — and with each neurosurgeon or physician I interviewed — additional associations became apparent,” explains Walter. “It’s given us new and exciting ways to read scripture, and it’s quite compelling.”
